Jatamansi powder is made from the roots and rhizomes of Nardostachys jatamansi — a sacred Himalayan herb. The name comes from two Sanskrit words — Jata meaning dreadlocks and Manasi indicating human — referring to the thick, hair-like roots of the plant. Our powder is pure, edible grade, sun-dried, and free from any additives or preservatives.


In Ayurveda, Jatamansi is primarily used as a brain tonic (Medhya Rasayana) and nervine sedative. It is the foremost herb for calming Vata dosha in the mind — making it an excellent remedy for anxiety, stress, insomnia, restlessness, and cognitive enhancement.


The recommended dosage is ¼–½ teaspoon (1–2 grams) of Jatamansi powder with honey or warm milk, once or twice daily. A general safe dose of 1–3 grams per day with warm water or honey after meals is considered appropriate for most adults. Always start with a smaller amount and consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for personalised guidance.


When used in conjunction with Brahmi, Ashwagandha, Vacha, or Shankhpushpi, Jatamansi provides significantly stronger cognitive and neuroprotective benefits. For stress and sleep, it pairs well with Ashwagandha. For memory, it combines best with Brahmi and Shankhpushpi.
